Tse Tse Fly Middle East - Icons At Rest & In Motion
Tse Tse Fly Middle East is a non-profit arts / activism organisation using live productions, interventions and artwork to highlight human rights and freedom of speech issues.
The artwork we're creating for the Wretched of the Screen project is entitled Icons At Rest & In Motion and takes its starting point from analogue spirituality, using a set of images of gods and demons created by artists in the Middle East and Asia during the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Individual images are then reanimated by us as gifs to become a piece of active digital spirituality, undergoing a rebirth for the screen-gnostic age - #iconsatrestandinmotion
Reanimating iconography responds to a selection of the artwork we routinely create for live Tse Tse Fly Middle East events, whereby we create bespoke images and animations to project during the experience.
